Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan secured a commanding 3-0 victory over India in the AFC Asian Cup, boosting their chances of advancing to the next round.
All three goals were scored in the first half, with Abbosbek Fayzullayev's early header setting the tone. Igor Sergeyeev and Sherzod Nasrullayev added to the lead before halftime. Despite fervent support for India from over 38,000 spectators, defensive errors and missed opportunities hindered their performance.
The defeat places India in a challenging position, having lost two consecutive matches. Uzbekistan's clinical performance lifted them to second place in Group B with four points. The result follows Australia's confirmation of reaching the Round of 16 with a 1-0 win over Syria.
India, now seeking redemption, will face Syria in their last group match, while Uzbekistan and Australia will compete for the group's top spot on Tuesday.
