Tobacco seized at Hamad Port
On March 7, 2024, Qatar Customs seized over 7,000 tonnes of banned tobacco concealed within a shipment of water tanks at Hamad Port.
The Customs Department, in coordination with the Anti-Smuggling and Harmful Practices Department Trade, detected the smuggling attempt.
Specialized devices uncovered the hidden tobacco during inspection, totaling 7,150 tonnes.
The General Authority of Customs urged community participation in the national campaign (Kafih) against customs violations, encouraging reporting of smuggling and document tampering via official channels.
