Shogo Taniguchi
Al Rayyan Sports Club has recruited Japanese international Shogo Taniguchi.
In a tweet on the club's official twitter handle yesterday, Al Rayyan said: “Al Rayyan contracts the Japanese international player Shogo Taniguchi.”
Taniguchi's former club, Japan's Kawasaki, had held a farewell celebration for the 31-year-old before his departure for Doha.
Taniguchi would replace Palestinian international defender Yasser Hamad who was injured.
Taniguchi played for his country in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and presented impressive levels as the team reached the round of 16 before losing to Croatia on penalties. Coached by Hajime Moriyasu, the Japanese team defeated Germany and Spain in the group stage.
