As January 2024 commences, the second month of winter unfolds, typically representing the coldest period of the year climatologically.
The Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) notes that January is characterized by the prevalence of cold fronts, often accompanied by frequent low-pressure systems leading to thunderstorms. The second week of the month is anticipated to bring additional rainfall.
QMD highlights that historical climate records indicate a regular occurrence of fog, particularly in the first half of January. The daily mean temperature for the month is projected to be 17.7 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature ever recorded during this month was 3.8 degrees Celsius in 1964, while the highest temperature, noted in 2015, reached 32.4 degrees Celsius.
