Doha Debates invites you to attend its upcoming Town Hall, “Is Humanity Ready for the Intelligence Explosion?”, taking place on January 29, 2026, at Multaqa, Education City Student Center.

Guided by moderator Nadir Nahdi, this timely town-hall-style debate will bring together expert guests Max More, Roman V. Yampolskiy and Nabiha Syed, alongside students from Qatar, to examine one of the most urgent questions of our time: as artificial intelligence accelerates beyond human understanding, are our ethics, institutions and our concept of humanity prepared for what comes next?

As systems already outperform humans in narrow domains and move rapidly toward more general capabilities, this discussion assumes that superintelligence is possible. The central question is whether humanity is ready. The debate will explore critical issues of control, governance, meaning, dignity, and the future of human agency in an age of accelerating machine intelligence.
