In Kearney's 2023 Global Cities Index, Doha witnessed a notable ascent, climbing 13 positions, driven largely by marked enhancements in its Human Capital dimension.

The capital's progress has been significantly influenced by the restoration of international travel to pre-pandemic levels. This freedom has drawn vast numbers of migrant professionals and tourists. Notably, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 saw an influx of over 1.4 million visitors.

Additionally, Doha's Business Activity ranking experienced a six-point leap, reflecting the positive impact of its progressive economic policies. This leap pushed the city into the coveted top 50.

Kearney's esteemed index, which aims to quantify a city's global influence across areas like capital, ideas, and people, underlines a shifting landscape. Traditional city hierarchies are witnessing change as emerging centers, like Doha, see rapid gains. This establishes a diversified global geography of opportunity. With its ever-growing global presence as a hub for sports, tourism, and events, Doha has not only entered the top 50 for the first time but also secured the second position regionally.

Five core dimensions are evaluated in the Global Cities Index: human capital, information exchange, cultural experience, political engagement, and business activity.

Qatar's international recognition has been on the rise. Recently, it clinched the title of the most peaceful country in the Middle East and North Africa according to the Global Peace Index (GPI) 2023, and ranked 21st globally, moving up two positions.

Rudolph Lohmeyer, a Partner at Kearney's National Transformation Institute, remarked on Qatar's unwavering commitment to its Vision 2030. He highlighted the nation's strategic focus on enhancing its investment climate, its persistent endeavors to offer top-tier education, and its global talent accessibility as major factors for Doha's resilience amidst global challenges.

Earlier this year, a UK security training survey by 'Get Licensed' recognized Doha among the top 10 safest tourist destinations globally.

The Global Cities Outlook (GCO) aims to spotlight cities poised for global dominance. This perspective also emphasized the emergence of a spread-out geography of opportunity.

While European cities firmly held their top 30 spots, Asian hubs like Seoul, Osaka, and Chennai showcased impressive growth. In the U.S., secondary metropolitan areas made significant headway, attracting both talent and capital throughout recent challenging years.
