Hamad International Airport in Doha welcomed 25.9 million passengers during the first half of 2025. While this is a slight dip of less than half a percent compared to last year, it’s in line with trends seen across the region showing how the airport is staying strong and flexible even as travel patterns shift.
Interestingly, direct flights to and from Doha actually grew by over 2 percent, which means more people are choosing nonstop travel through HIA. Cargo volumes and aircraft movements saw small declines, but the airport continues to handle huge amounts of traffic smoothly.
One exciting upgrade is the opening of Concourses D and E, which added 17 new gates with self-boarding technology. This change means fewer bus rides between terminals and planes about 350,000 fewer making trips quicker and more comfortable for travelers.
HIA also places a big focus on accessibility, with easy-to-navigate walkways, spacious seating, special lanes for families, and electronic gates to assist passengers with disabilities. Plus, the airport’s indoor tropical garden, called ORCHARD, now features beautiful permanent artworks by Gillie and Marc, adding a relaxing and inspiring touch to the journey.
All these improvements help Hamad International Airport maintain its reputation as a top global hub, balancing efficiency with a great passenger experience.
