Hamad International Airport (DOH) Achieves Record-Breaking Quarter in Q1 2024
Hamad International Airport (DOH) has solidified its status as a global aviation hub, surpassing all previous records set in 2023 with its busiest quarter yet in Q1 2024.
During this quarter, passenger traffic surged remarkably, marking a 27.6% increase, while aircraft movements and cargo operations also experienced significant growth, with a 23.9% and 15.4% increase respectively. The airport welcomed a total of 13,171,540 passengers in Q1 2024, with January recording 4,533,212 passengers, February with 4,368,710 passengers, and March with 4,269,618 passengers. Aircraft movements totaled 69,959, with 23,996 in January, 22,736 in February, and 23,227 in March. Additionally, the airport handled over 626,338 tonnes of cargo and processed 10,457,444 bags, including 7,210,079 transfer baggage, highlighting its appeal as a preferred transfer hub for global passengers.
Expanding its global connectivity, the airport now serves 188 cargo and passenger destinations and connects with a network of 48 airlines, including 44 operating in Q1 and four new airline partners.Â
Recently, Hamad International Airport was honored with several accolades, including being named the World’s Best Airport 2024 by the Skytrax World Airport Awards. Additionally, it received recognition as the Best Airport Shopping for the second consecutive time and the Best Airport in the Middle East for the tenth consecutive time.
