Qatar Charity (QC) has renewed a cooperation and partnership agreement with Lulu Hypermarket Qatar to allow Lulu to remain, as a member of the Charity Partner (CP) program, as well as to support Qatar Charity’s ‘Ramadan of Hope’ drive through Lulu’s ‘Shop & Donate’ initiative. Under the agreement, Lulu was awarded the ‘CP’ trademark in the sliver category.
The renewed agreement comes in light of Qatar Charity's commitment to provide the necessary aid and support to the target groups, and is part of Lulu Hypermarket Qatar ’s endeavor to support humanitarian work as a duty towards the community.
Under the agreement, Lulu Hypermarket Qatar will publicize the ‘CP’ program, and draw the attention of companies and establishments, through its available marketing methods, towards the program.
According to the pact, Lulu Hypermarket Qatar will donate QR250,000 to Qatar Charity. This amount will include those collected through ‘Shop & Donate’, an initiative that is launched by Lulu in Ramadan to display many products for shopping to support Qatar Charity’s ‘Ramadan of Hope’ drive, with a part of the products’ profits.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Ahmad Yousef Fakhroo, CEO’s assistant for the Resources Development and Media sector at Qatar Charity, and Mr. Shanavas Padiyath, regional manager of Lulu Hypermarket Qatar.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Mr. Ahmad Yousef Fakhroo, CEO’s assistant for the Resources Development and Media sector at Qatar Charity, thanked Lulu Hypermarket Qatar for remaining a ‘CP’ family member and supporting the Ramadan drive. He said that the cooperation and partnership between Qatar Charity and the Lulu Hypermarket Qatar has been going on for five years, terming it ‘as a distinguished partnership’.
Fakhroo added that Qatar Charity seeks to strengthen, expand and continue this cooperation for years to come, aiming to include all areas of humanitarian and charitable work, especially in light of Lulu Hypermarket’s expansion across the country. He called on other companies and establishments to join the ‘CP’ program, as part of their social responsibility towards the community.
“This support is part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR), as we look forward to being an important role player in the social responsibility programmes in collaboration with Qatar Charity, based on the values of solidarity and cooperation between establishments and the community,” said Dr. Mohamed Althaf, director of LuLu Group International.
He added that such support would also continue in the future, noting that in 2021, Qatar Charity received a donation of QR 250,000 from Lulu Hypermarket Qatar, as part of its ‘Shop & Donate’ drive in support of Qatar Charity’s Ramadan campaign last year. He indicated that last year Lulu Hypermarket was awarded the ‘CP’ trademark in the gold category and made donations worth 250,000 under the ‘CP’ program
Over five years, Lulu Hypermarket Qatar and Qatar Charity have signed several cooperation agreements. The first agreement allows customers to donate changes when paying their purchase bills at Lulu Hypermarkets to support charitable projects both within and outside of Qatar. The second agreement promotes Qatar Charity’s Khair Cards, while the third agreement involves collaboration under the ‘Shop & Donate’ initiative.
