Ministry of Labour received 36,347 new recruitment requests
The Ministry of Labour (MoL) received 36,347 new recruitment requests in January, 2024, an MoL statistical bulletin has revealed.
The MoL's Work Permit Department received 5,281 requests for new recruitment, 26,172 for general work permits, 1,306 private work permits and a total of 3,588 profession modification requests reached.
In terms of inspection visits to labour recruitment offices, the statistical bulletin revealed that the MoL carried out about 211 inspection tours of recruitment offices, of which 202 ended without notes, and five with a violation. Four companies were banned.
During the same month, the MoL's Inspection Department conducted intensive inspection campaigns to monitor the extent to which establishments comply with laws and ministerial decisions concerned with regulating the labour market in the country, with a total of 4,367 visits, which resulted in issuing a warning to 668 companies, while the number of records of violations issued against companies reached 863.
In regard to labour complaints, the statistical bulletin revealed that the Dispute Department received complaints from the establishment's workers against the establishment that amounted to 2,959 complaints, of which 524 were settled, and 147 were referred to the Labour Disputes Settlement Committees. The department also received 81 complaints from the public, all of which were settled.
As for the Labour Disputes Settlement Committees, the bulletin showed that the number of cases referred to these committees by the ministry reached about 518 cases last January, and the total number of decisions issued by the ministry reached about 601 decisions.
In regard to work contracts, the statistical bulletin revealed that the MoL's Labour Relation Department received about 75,084 requests to ratify work contracts, while the number of secondment requests for labour reached 5,824.
