Dugong
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change announced the rescue of a dugong (sea cow) that was spotted in the Khor Al Adaid area.
Two Qatari environmental activists - Khalifa Omar Saleh Al-Hamidi and Ahmed Saad Al-Fayyadh Al-Khalidi - reported the presence of the dugong, the ministry said in a tweet.
Ministry officials immediately took action and transferred the dugong to the Fuwairit area (sea turtles project) where ponds are equipped for raising young turtles.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change officially named the dugong (sea cow) that was recently rescued in Qatar "Ocean", making it the first dugong with a name in the region.Â
The Ministry announced the rescue of 'Ocean' on Tuesday in Khor Al Adaid in cooperation with two Qatari environmental activists Khalifa Omar Saleh Al-Hamidi and Ahmed Saad Al-Fayyadh Al-Khalidi.Â
Ocean was then transferred to the Fuwairit area (sea turtles project) where ponds are equipped for raising young turtles.
