Qatar Airways Lands in Kinshasa

Qatar Airways has launched a new route in Africa, connecting the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) with Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The inaugural flight from Doha to Kinshasa landed at N’djili International Airport on Saturday, June 1, 2024. This addition brings the total number of African destinations served by the airline to 29.

This new route will link Kinshasa to the world via Qatar Airways’ hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha. The airline's strategic expansion aims to enhance air connectivity across Africa, fostering stronger economic, business, and cultural ties.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, stated, “At Qatar Airways, we recognise the immense potential in Africa. We are dedicated to enhancing connectivity throughout the continent, enabling seamless access to business and leisure opportunities. We look forward to offering our passengers travelling to and from the DRC convenient travel options through our award-winning hub, Hamad International Airport.”

The new service will operate four times weekly and will also boost capacity to Angola, increasing flights to Luanda from one to four per week. This complements the airline's over 170 weekly flights across Africa, highlighting Qatar Airways' commitment to improving connectivity on the continent. Since December 2020, Qatar Airways has added nine new African destinations: Abidjan, Abuja, Accra, Kinshasa, Harare, Kano, Luanda, Lusaka, and Port Harcourt, while resuming services to Cairo and Alexandria.

Additionally, Qatar Airways has optimized schedules in most African markets over the past year to ensure convenient connections to China, as well as key markets like Belgium, France, Portugal, and the Middle East. The new Kinshasa route follows this trend, enhancing travel options for passengers.
