Al Kharaitiyat Community Club Primary School Championship
Qatar Chess Association (QCA) organized Al Kharaitiyat Community Club Chess Championship for primary school students, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The tournament saw participation of 180 players representing 20 schools, with separate competitions for boys' and girls' schools.
In the boys' category of the government schools chess competition, Hamza Alaaeddin from Abdullah bin Turki Primary School won first place, followed by Hassan Al Sharqawi from Jaber bin Hayyan School in second place, and Omar Shadi Abdul Karim from Saad bin Muaaz School in third.
In the girls' category, Asma Al Hammadi from Al-Bayan Primary School claimed first place, while her classmate, Noaf Abdullah Al Musallam, took second place. Jud Mariyan from Al-Kharara Primary School secured third place.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Executive Director of Qatar Chess Association, Hamad Al Tamimi, stated that this tournament is part of the federation’s strategy to promote and develop chess in schools and increase participation across age groups in local competitions. He also highlighted the goal to boost the number of registered and internationally ranked players.
Al Tamimi added that the federation plans to expand participation in future local tournaments and expressed thanks to all the participating schools.
Qatar Chess Association continues its efforts to implement its horizontal expansion strategy for the game by organizing continuous chess training courses and focusing on the benefits of practicing chess at school stages. The federation also trains and qualifies teachers to manage school chess teams and organize annual inter-school tournaments.
