The recent official visit of Lebanese President H.E. Joseph Aoun to Qatar—his first foreign visit since taking office—highlighted the strong and historic ties between the two nations, as well as their mutual desire to enhance cooperation for the benefit of their people and the wider region.
H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received President Aoun at the Amiri Diwan, where they held discussions on bilateral relations, regional and international developments, and joint efforts to promote peace and stability.
During the meeting, H.H. the Amir reaffirmed Qatar’s continued support for Lebanon, its people, and institutions. He also announced the renewal of a $60 million grant to support the salaries of the Lebanese Army, along with the donation of 162 military vehicles to strengthen the army’s capacity to maintain security and safeguard the nation’s borders. Qatar has also provided fuel supplies to support the army’s operations, further contributing to Lebanon’s internal stability.
The leaders reiterated their firm support for the rights of the Palestinian people, and for Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and independence. Qatari officials also emphasized the importance of ending the Israeli occupation of Lebanese territory and urged all sides to respect the ceasefire and avoid escalation to ensure regional stability.
Qatar has remained a reliable partner to Lebanon during times of crisis, and the bond between the two countries continues to grow across key sectors such as energy, investment, and economic development. President Aoun’s visit is expected to deepen this cooperation and support Lebanon’s journey toward lasting stability and prosperity.
