State of Qatar
The foreign merchandise trade balance of the State of Qatar, which represents the difference between total exports and imports, showed a surplus of QR 16.7 billion in June 2021, an increase of about QR 10.8 billion or 184.2%, compared to June 2020, and increased by nearly QR 100 million or 0.4% compared to May 2021.
According to the data released by the Planning and Statistics Authority on Tuesday, the total exports of goods (including exports of goods of domestic origin and re-exports) amounted to around QR 25 billion in June 2021, showing an increase of 96.3% compared to June 2020, and increase of 0.3% compared to May 2021.
On other hand, the imports of goods in June 2021 amounted to around QR 8.3 billion, showing an increase of 21.1% compared to June 2020. and increase of 0.1% compared to May 2021.
The year on year (June 2021 to June 2020) increase in total exports was mainly due to higher exports of Petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons (LNG, condensates, propane, butane, etc.) reaching QR 14.2 billion approximately in June 2021, an increase of 91.5%. Petroleum oils and oils from bituminous minerals (crude) reaching QR 4.4 billion nearly, increased by 185.8%, and increase in the Petroleum oils and oils from bituminous minerals (not crude) reaching 2.3 billion, increased by 122.4%.
In June 2021, Japan was at the top of the countries of destination of Qatars exports with close to QR 3.8 billion, a share of 15.3% of total exports, followed by China with almost QR 3.3 billion and a share of 13.3%, India with about QR 3.2 billion, a share of 13.0%.
The year on year (June 2021 to June 2020), the group of "Turbojets, Turbo propellers and Other Gas Turbines; Parts Thereof" was at the top of the imported group of commodities, with QR 0.7 billion, showing an increase of 100.3%. In second place was "Motor Cars and Other Motor Vehicles For The Transport Of Persons" with QR 0.4 billion, showing an increase of 153.9% and in third place was "Electrical Apparatus for Line Telephony/Telegraphy, Telephone Sets Etc.; Parts Thereof" with QR 0.2 billion, increase of 10.9%.
In June 2021, China was the leading country of origin of Qatars imports with about QR 1.3 billion, a share of 15.7% of the imports, followed by United State of America with QR 1.1 billion almost, a share of 12.6%, and Germany with QR 0.6 billion, a share of 7.6%. (QNA)
