Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a Little Hearts medical convoy in Dhaka Bangladesh, in partnership with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), and Bangladesh Ministry of Health (MOH), with the aim of providing life-saving medical care for children with congenital heart defects.
Over six days, 300 children will receive medical examinations and 125 specialized cardiac catheterizations will be performed for patients, using advanced medical equipment at NICVD.
In addition to the medical procedures, the project involves a practical training and transfer of expertise to the local doctors in Bangladesh, who would be engaged in the medical interventions using the latest catheterization tools, thus ensuring sustainability of medical services and building the capacity of local health system.
This is one of many Little Hearts medical convoys successfully implemented by QRCS in Bangladesh since 2018, which helped save
hundreds of lives and alleviate the suffering of families, amid serious health and economic challenges to the most vulnerable groups of Bangladesh.
