HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani participated in the 13th National Sports Day Activities by QOC

HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani participated in the QOC's activities marking the 13th National Sports Day with a myriad of events nationwide as part of the commitment to promote a healthy lifestyle and highlighting the importance of culture and sport as a core element of the daily life.

The QOC offered the opportunity for the community to practice sport with the Qatari National Team at the sports village which was specifically allocated for this day in Barahat Msheireb in partnership with several sports federations to celebrate National Sport Day.

The activities included a slew of group and individual sports, such as athletics, football, handball, volleyball, basketball, boxing, taekwondo, karate, gymnastics, tennis, and sports for people with special needs.

Thousands of folks participated in this national event with the curators of the sport village emphasizing the importance of pursuing a healthy lifestyle. They encouraged the community members to interact with Al Adaam players ahead of their anticipated participation in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

Commenting on this occasion, HE Secretary-General of QOC Jassim Rashid Al Buainain said the National Sport Day represents a unique occasion that offers an opportunity for all community members to participate in the sporting and physical activities, pointing out that these activities reinforce the cultural and social ties among the Qatari community members.

He added that QOC believes in sport as a perfect tool for achieving human development and helping the community members internalize positive values, in addition to encouraging them to pursue far more healthy lifestyles.

Al Adaam athletes are a source of inspiration for all people as each one of them confirms that sport is not solely confined to an elite of athletes but to all people, Al Buainain said, affirming that all community members become more robust and unified when sport becomes part of their life system.

The activities on National Sport Day marked the launch of the activities of the 2nd Edition of the School Olympic Program at the Lusail Trail with the participation of nearly 3,000 students from both genders, with a 1km race devoted to the primary school students, a 2km race to middle school students, and a 3km race to the secondary school students.

This year's day coincided with the World Aquatics Championships - Doha 2024 whose contests are underway.
