The 5 Most Anticipated Movies of April

The summer movie season is just around the corner, but April is keeping things a little more low-key — at least in terms of blockbuster tentpoles. That said, there's still a wide variety of intriguing titles coming to theaters this month, including a surprise video game adaptation, a mysterious horror-thriller, a long-awaited sequel, and more.

We asked what you were most looking forward to, and there were a couple of surprises in the results! Read on to see the Most Anticipated Movies of April!

No. 1

A Minecraft Movie (2025)

The long-awaited Minecraft movie finally mines its way into theaters this April, and to no one’s surprise, it landed at the top of our list with 21% of the vote. Based on the iconic video game, the film follows a group of ordinary people who are mysteriously transported into a blocky alternate dimension. To find their way home, they team up with a seasoned builder named Steve.

With a cast that includes Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge, and Emma Myers, it promises a fun, family-friendly adventure packed with nostalgia and action. While it might not have been everyone’s first pick for top spot, fan curiosity clearly gave it the edge.

Sinners (2025)

Hot on Minecraft’s heels with 20% of the vote is Sinners, the latest collaboration between director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan. Known for their powerful storytelling in Creed and Black Panther, the duo now pivots into supernatural horror territory.

Michael B. Jordan plays twin brothers returning to their hometown, only to confront a dark and otherworldly evil. Plot details are tightly under wraps, but with this powerhouse pairing at the center, expectations are sky-high.

The Accountant 2 (2025)

The numbers are back in play. Director Gavin O’Connor returns with The Accountant 2, bringing Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal back into the fold. The 2016 original had mixed reviews from critics, but earned a devoted fan base — enough to justify a sequel.

This time around, Bernthal’s character gets a larger role as he joins forces with Affleck’s mathematically gifted assassin to unravel a mysterious murder. The action-drama aims to double down on intensity and expand the universe.

Warfare (2025)

April also brings a gritty wartime thriller in the form of Warfare, which earned 12% of the vote. Co-directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland, the film follows a group of American soldiers attempting to escape enemy territory during a harrowing mission in Iraq.

Inspired by Mendoza’s real-life experiences in the military, Warfare blends realism with suspense, and features an ensemble cast including Joseph Quinn, Kit Connor, Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, and Noah Centineo.

Death of a Unicorn (2025)

Rounding out the list with 7% of the vote is the spy thriller Death of a Unicorn. Based on the 1981 novel of the same name, the film stars Rami Malek as a CIA cryptographer who goes rogue after his wife’s death in a terrorist attack — and his agency’s refusal to act.

With Laurence Fishburne also onboard and director James Hawes at the helm, this revenge-fueled thriller looks to combine cerebral espionage with emotional stakes. Though technically a late March release, its buzz carried into April.
