The third edition of the Qatar University Book Fair, organized by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with Qatar University, is set to open on February 1 and will run for five days.
The Ministry of Culture revealed that 45 publishing houses will participate in this year's edition, highlighting that the fair will host a diverse program of cultural and artistic activities, alongside the launch of new titles by several local publishing houses.
The Ministry reaffirmed its steadfast support for initiatives that broaden horizons for young people, underscoring that books will always remain a beacon of knowledge, a bridge for intellectual dialogue, and a vital instrument for strengthening national identity and nurturing creativity. It further noted that the continued partnership with Qatar University in organizing the fair reflects the State's vision of positioning culture as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
In this regard, Director of Qatar University Press, Sheikha Al-Thani, stated that the third edition of the fair is witnessing remarkable growth in participation, with nine external publishing houses representing leading regional and international universities and academic institutions.
She explained that the fair primarily seeks to enhance the presence of academic publishing and provide researchers and students with access to the latest scholarly works. She also emphasized Qatar University's commitment to establishing the fair as an interactive platform that brings together publishers and academics, while fostering opportunities for collaboration in authorship, translation, and academic publishing-thereby contributing to the enrichment of academic content in Arabic and other languages.
