Qatar 2022 World Cup CEO Mr. Nasser Al Khater

During an exclusive interview with CNN, Qatar 2022 World Cup CEO Mr. Nasser Al Khater highlighted the importance of respecting the customs and traditions of the gulf region. He said that Qatar has received criticism just like every other world cup hosting nations and the primary reason the gulf state is being criticized is because it is going to be the first-ever Arab country to organize this global tournament.

Responding to the criticisms the country has faced so far, Al Khater mentioned that it “strengthens our determination to host an exceptional tournament representing all Arabs and a championship for history. We hope that it will be the first tournament in which fans return to stadiums and a World Cup in which legacy will be positive in Qatar.”

He expressed his delight in welcoming fans and visitors, which is not limited to GCC citizens but also from many other nations including Turkey, Iran, India, countries from North African region and many more.

“Qatar is a hospitable country. We are a country that has our customs and traditions, and just as Qatar will respect the customs and traditions of guests from different countries, we believe that guests and visitors during the World Cup should also respect our customs and traditions in the region,” he added.
