Grace period for expats to correct legal status begins today
The Ministry of Interior has announced that it has set a time period to address violations by expatriates, starting from today until December 31.
The ministry said that in line with the provisions of law no. 21 for the year 2015 regulating the entrance and exits of expats and their residence, every violating resident must make a reconciliation request during that period at the following service centres: Umm Salal, Umm Sunaim (Industrial Area), Mesaimeer, Al Wakrah, and Al Rayyan. Those who apply could benefit from an exemption or a reduction to the reconciliation amount in line with the provisions of the law.Â
The ministry called on all targeted categories to amend their legal status (expatriates who violated the residency rules, expatriates who violated the visa rules, expatriates who violated the family visit rules) to visit the mentioned centres during the period from October 10 to December 31 at any time from 1pm to 6pm.
