Old Al Ghanim inaugurates new public parking facility

The Ministry of Municipality and Mowasalat (Karwa) have inaugurated a new public parking lot in the Old Al Ghanim (Old Gold Souq) Area. It was developed on the site of the old Al Ghanim bus station, aligning with the Ministry's goal to regulate public parking in accordance with Law No. 13/2021. This initiative supports Qatar National Vision 2030 by easing congestion, enhancing traffic safety, and optimizing land use for economic growth and community development, in collaboration with the private sector.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Muftah, Chief Administrative Officer of Mowasalat (Karwa), commented:

"Transforming the land of the old Al-Ghanim bus station into a parking space reflects our vision of supporting the community and achieving environmental and economic sustainability. We are constantly striving to develop and improve our services to facilitate traffic flow and meet the public’s requirements in the vital parts of the State. We are proud of our collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality and all relevant authorities in establishing this project and delivering exceptional service to the public and the local community."

The increasing need for parking spaces in Doha's Central Gold Souq area prompted the transformation of the Old Al Ghanim bus station land into public parking lots. This effort aims to ease the burden on existing parking facilities, leading to smoother traffic flow and benefiting the local community.

The establishment of the new parking facility was achieved through close collaboration and support from all stakeholders, including the Ministry of Municipality and M/S Computer Station Company, specializing in advanced parking management systems. This ensures a convenient parking service, enhancing the overall experience of visiting Central Doha. Additionally, short and long-term parking options will stimulate commercial activities in this vital area of the city.
