Al Tahadi Diabetes Camp, organized by the Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), launched yesterday.
Al Tahadi Diabetes Camp, organised by the Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, was launched yesterday and targets young people living with type 1 diabetes.
The camp will continue until March 17 via remote visual communication and some activities, with 37 participants aged between 12 and 15. Campers will learn diabetes self-management from a team of experts.
The objective of the camp is to encourage teens to have a positive and proactive attitude in managing type 1 Diabetes.
Teens will be able to learn about self-care through education sessions, that simulates real life situations to apply problem solving all in a fun and light setting.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, in collabration with the Genration Amazing, will conduct two football sessions: for boys and girls, each, on the very last day.
A person with type 1 diabetes develops the condition as a result of an autoimmune reaction in which the body's defense system attacks the insulin-producing cells. As a result, the pancares produces little or no insulin. This disease that can affect people of any age, especially children or young adults, and is a result of genetic factors.
“People with type 1 diabetes need daily insulin treatment, regular blood glucose monitoring and a healthy lifestyle to manage their condition effectively, and this is the goal of Al Tahadi camps where we provide education and training on good diabetes control.'' said Qatar Diabetes Association's Executive Director, Dr. Abdulla Al Hamad.
Al Tahadi camp is one of the highlights of QDA events that is tailored to adolescents living with type 1 diabetes to help them lead healthier, happier, and more productive lives through proper diabetes management.
