The General Traffic Department of Qatar has announced the activation of a system for monitoring phone users while driving, stating that traffic cameras have already been installed to monitor this violation, especially at traffic lights.

“A violation has been recorded against a woman for using her mobile phone while driving her car with children on board leading distraction on driving,” said Director of Traffic Awareness Department of the General Directorate of Traffic, Colonel Dr. Muhammad Radi Al Hajri.

Speaking in a Qatar Radio programme recently, he said that the system for monitoring phone users while driving has been activated, noting that traffic cameras have already been activated, especially at traffic lights, to monitor this violation.

He added that mobile phones has become a common problem of the times, making users addictive even in their homes.
