HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani called on Finnish companies and investors to take advantage of the exceptional economic and investment environment provided by the State of Qatar, highlighting the incentives and legislation aimed at encouraging foreign investments and promoting non-oil exports.
This came during his speech at the opening of the Qatar-Finland Business Roundtable, held in Helsinki, in the presence of HE Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of the Republic of Finland Ville Tavio, on the sidelines of the official visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The event was attended by representatives of the chambers of commerce, business associations, and investors from both sides, as well as representatives of major Qatari and Finnish companies.
In his opening remarks, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry emphasized that HH the Amirs visit to Finland aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. He noted that the roundtable provides an important platform to discuss issues of mutual interest and explore opportunities in economic, trade, and investment sectors with the goal of developing partnerships and opening new avenues of cooperation between the business communities of both nations.
He further explained that Qatari-Finnish relations have seen significant progress in recent years and expressed his hopes for greater contributions to bilateral trade relations, especially given the vast opportunities in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, renewable energy projects, digital transformation, financial services, and logistics.
In conclusion, His Excellency expressed his hope that the meeting would contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation between the business sectors of Qatar and Finland, leading to new partnerships and alliances that would boost trade exchange to meet the developmental aspirations of both countries in various fields.
During the roundtable, the advantages of the business environments in Qatar and Finland were highlighted, and discussions took place on enhancing cooperation in various sectors. Additionally, several bilateral meetings were held between representatives of the Qatari private sector and Finnish producers and exporters to explore collaboration opportunities, exchange expertise, and build new investment partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
The roundtable concluded with the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation between the two sides, contributing to increased bilateral trade.
It is worth noting that the Qatar-Finland Business Roundtable aims to strengthen trade, investment, and industrial cooperation between the two countries, opening up avenues for communication between representatives of the Qatari and Finnish private sectors to establish investment projects that serve the interests of both nations.
