Ministry of Social Development and Family Launches Family Charter

Ministry of Social Development and Family (MoSDF) launched the 'Family Charter' under theme 'Family is the treasure of a nation.'

The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MoSDF) inaugurated Monday the 'Family Charter' under the theme: 'Family is the treasure of a nation', in a critical step towards promoting familial values and the role of family in building a tight-knit and sustainable community.

HE Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad attended the inauguration ceremony, alongside a number of Their Excellencies the ministers.

The inauguration was made through the signing of a giant mural across many places such as the Dadu Children's Museum at Expo 2023 Doha, wisdom square and Wefaq Centre. The mural includes a substantial number of signers and will have a positive impact on reinforcing awareness and adhering to joint responsibility.

The nationwide availability of the mural aims to gather a substantial number of signatures by explaining the rights and responsibilities of signatories. The inauguration event includes an awareness workshop introducing the charter, emphasizing its importance and key principles like strong family bonds, social cohesion, and reinforcing religious values within the community.

HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad highlighted the charter's significance, stating that signing it is a crucial step toward strengthening family ties and achieving sustainable development. Emphasizing the family as a crucial incubator for individuals, she stressed the importance of internalizing religious values within the community.

The charter focuses on organizing familial relationships and protecting individual rights within the family, promoting awareness about preserving family stability, and solidifying its role in the community. Al Misnad emphasized the importance of equal rights and duties to reinforce cooperation values, mutual respect, and understanding within the family, highlighting the family's core role in shaping values and upbringing.

The Minister urged active community participation in signing the charter, aiming to build a community grounded in religious and moral values. She underlined the charter's role as a legal framework governing familial relationships, addressing financial, economic, educational, and health rights, and safeguarding the rights of women and children while promoting justice and mutual respect.

Describing the charter as a first-of-its-kind document in the Middle East and North Africa, Al Misnad positioned Qatar as a pioneer in such initiatives. She suggested inviting GCC states, the Arab and international communities to join, making it a crucial document for local communities and setting a precedent for family-focused development.

Through this initiative, the Ministry aspires to align with national development plans, the 2030 strategy, and UN charters to positively impact Qatar, addressing family challenges and contributing to social development.
