The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Department of the Penal and Correctional Institutions signed an agreement with the Community College of Qatar, regarding the admission of inmates to enroll for education at the college, starting from autumn 2022.
The agreement was signed by Brigadier General Mohammad Saud Al-Otaibi, Director of the Department, and Mohammad Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, President of the Community College of Qatar.
Under this agreement, inmates of penal institutions will have an opportunity to complete their academic education to obtain a diploma or a bachelor’s degree at Community College Qatar, and they will have the option to acquire skills and abilities in various fields.
It will create opportunities for them after their exit from prison, linking them to the labor market, QNA reports.
The Director of the Department of the Penal and Correctional Institutions stressed that supporting the inmates of penal institutions will prevent them from returning to again crime, science would be the weapon that motivates them to return to the right path.
