Marijuana
Officials from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Qatar Customs successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle marijuana into the country on Thursday.
The MoI's Police Canine Section initially flagged several suspicious parcels believed to contain illegal substances. These packages were then handed over to customs authorities at Hamad Port and other southern ports for thorough inspection.
Upon examination, the parcels—disguised as shipments of jewelry and handicrafts—were found to conceal marijuana hidden within the cavities of wooden items. X-ray equipment revealed the narcotics carefully concealed inside.
Authorities reported that the total weight of the seized marijuana was approximately 17 kilograms. The MoI and Qatar Customs continue to work closely to prevent illegal substances from entering the country.
