International Day of Education
Under the theme 'Education is everyone's responsibility,' Qatar Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, hosted the International Day of Education. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed individuals, including H.H. Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, and H.E. Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation for Education.
During the opening ceremony, H.H. Sheikha Moza underscored the significance of preserving the Arabic language, considering it the embodiment of culture, history, and national identity. She emphasized that the Arabic language serves as a mirror reflecting identity, history, and culture.
The activities organized by Qatar Foundation for the International Day of Education aim to inspire various entities and individuals in society to actively contribute to and enhance the standard of education in Qatar. The day features thought-provoking discussions, workshops, interactive exhibitions showcasing educational programs, and other engaging activities at the Ceremonial Court in Education City.
The opening session, which was ongoing at the time of reporting, focused on a panel discussion by QF’s Pre-University Education (PUE) on the collective responsibility regarding Language and Identity. Experts and officials highlighted the imperative to enhance teaching and learning in the Arabic language, while also addressing the roles of family, community, and media in safeguarding, promoting, and reinforcing the Arabic language and identity.
Subsequent sessions include a dialogue with students exploring whether education fulfills their needs, organized by the Qatar Debate Center, and a session titled 'Education under Attack 2023' by Education Above All.
