QRCS said in a statement today that this project is being implemented in cooperation with the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), through volunteering a medical team of its employees to participate in the medical convoy.

It noted that the medical convoy is scheduled to last for 8 days, with the aim of providing the necessary medical aid with the view to alleviating the suffering of the sick and injured in Darfur, reducing the risks that threaten their lives as a result of not obtaining the necessary surgical interventions, as well as mitigating the financial burdens on poor families, raising the efficiency of local medical staff to enable them provide better medical services, and reducing waiting lists in the surgery department of the aforementioned hospital.

QRCS explained that according to the project's work plan, 150 patients, 65 males and 85 females, will benefit from surgical interventions, in addition to the examining of 400 sick children and providing them with medical advice, in cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, the Ministry of Health in Darfur and other relevant local authorities.

It pointed out that the representative office of the Qatari Red Crescent Society in Sudan had taken care of all the procedures for purchasing and supplying medicines, surgical consumables and medical devices necessary to support the hospital's operating rooms during surgical operations.
