Water Projects
Qatar Charity (QC) announced Tuesday it had implemented 50 water projects in Somalia at a cost of QAR 2.7 million.
These projects were implemented this year in the states of Hirshabelle and Galmudug and included the drilling of 50 wells to meet the local communities' needs for clean drinking water.
Qatar Charity, by implementing such projects, aims to mitigate the effects of drought and contribute to protecting the environment and reducing diseases and epidemics caused by polluted water.
QC has implemented several water projects in collaboration with the Somali Ministry of Energy and Water, following the signing of a joint memorandum of understanding to cooperate in drilling water wells, constructing water storage stations, maintaining old wells, and installing modern solar-powered pumps to assist those affected by recurring droughts and floods.
